The Operator Qualification (OQ) Program stems from a DOT mandate established in 1992 and implemented through the Pipeline Safety Act (PSA). The PSA is designed to assure safety in the transport of hazardous gases and liquids through the nation’s network of pipeline systems. As a result of PSA, pipeline operators and their supporting contractors who perform certain “covered tasks” on pipeline systems must be qualified through individual evaluation and demonstrated competencies to react to any abnormal operating conditions that could potentially develop during the operation of the pipeline systems.
We strongly believe that OQ is a safety initiative based on quality. Therefore, we provide customers with a highly trained and dedicated workforce qualified in a wide-range of covered tasks. To respond to customers with greater flexibility, we utilize the services of third-party providers in addition to our own in-house OQ training program. These providers offer customized services that save us both time and money, which benefit our customers. The following is a list of third-party providers we affiliate with:
- Midwest Energy Association (MAE)
- Southeastern Gas Association
- National Compliance Management Services
