The North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) announced that Distribution Construction, LLC (DC) will receive the 2014 Gold Star Safety Award. The NCDOL’s Safety Awards Program recognizes private and public firms throughout North Carolina that achieve and maintain excellent safety records. The statewide program is devised to promote strong initiatives toward accident prevention and to advocate safety in the workplace by providing incentives to employers and employees to maintain a safe and healthful workplace.
In operation since 1946, the program extends to more than 3,300 firms. There are two types of awards administered annually through the statewide program: Annual Safety Awards recognizing two levels of achievement, Gold and Silver, and the Million-Hour Awards.
In order to qualify for the Gold Star status, DC achieved and maintained during the 2014 qualifying period an outstanding on-the-job safety record supported by no employee fatalities and an OSHA incident rate at least 50 percent below the average for our industry group. The North Carolina Department of Labor will honor DC, as well as other recipients, at the agency’s annual safety awards banquet scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2015 in Greensboro, NC.
Todd Day, President of DC expressed his appreciation when notified of the award saying: “As always, the entire DC workforce has come together to accomplish great things in regard to employee safety and health. Their daily efforts have made it possible for the company to achieve the level of success the Gold Star Safety Award signifies. It is truly my honor to work with such an exceptional group of people each and every day.”
